Word Relay does not collect personal data and does not transmit anything you do in the game. There is no account, no sign-up, no email address, no login and no advertising network. Nothing you type into the puzzle leaves your device.
What is stored in your browser
The game writes one key to your browser's localStorage, named
wordrelay.v1. It stays on your device, it is readable only by this
site, it is never uploaded, and it holds exactly this:
- Your difficulty tier - which of the five tiers you last chose, so the picker remembers it.
- Your options - whether hard mode is on for each tier that offers it, whether the color-blind-safe palette is on, and whether you selected the light or the dark theme.
- Per-tier statistics - games played, games won, current streak, maximum streak, the day number of the last daily puzzle you completed, a count of how many wins took each number of guesses, and a separate tally of practice games played and solved.
- Today's progress - for each tier, today's day number, the answer for that day, the words you have already guessed, whether hard mode was on, how many rows you have, and whether the puzzle is finished. This is what lets you close the tab and come back to the same board. It is discarded automatically once the date changes.
That is the complete list. There is no identifier, no device fingerprint, no cookie and no session token, because the game has nothing to attach one to. You can erase all of it at any time by clearing site data for this domain in your browser settings; the game will simply start over from the tier picker.
What the server sees
The page and its word lists are served by a small static web server. Like every web server, it processes the ordinary details of a request - the URL, the time, your IP address and your browser's user-agent string - in order to send a response. Those are used to serve the page and to keep the service running, and the game makes no request of its own after the word list has loaded.
Usage measurement
The page reports basic performance and error information to Tencent Cloud RUM, the frontend monitoring service used by the platform this app is deployed on, together with a single traffic-channel label - one of search, social, ai_referral, direct or other - derived from the referring page and any UTM parameters in the address. That label describes where a visit came from, not who you are. No identifier is assigned to you, nothing about your gameplay, your guesses, your statistics or your streak is included, and this measurement is skipped entirely if the platform's monitoring is not configured.
Children
The Sprout tier is designed for young readers. It collects nothing extra: the same single localStorage key applies, and no personal data of any kind is requested from any player, of any age.
Third parties
There are no third-party advertising scripts, analytics tags, social widgets or embedded trackers on this site. The only external script is the Tencent Cloud RUM monitoring SDK described above.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Because there is no account and no mailing list, there is nothing to unsubscribe from and no data of yours for us to delete on request - it is all in your own browser, under your own control.
